چکیده

conclusions adsorption of antibodies to bap might interfere with bacterial adhesion to the surface. these antibodies were found to be potent biofilm inhibitors. results injection of bap subunit resulted in high titers of antibody. immunized mice serum had significant (p< 0.001) inhibitory effect on biofilm formation. in vitro inhibition of biofilm formation by a. baumannii was studied at 1:50 concentrations of immunized and unimmunized mice sera. immunized mice serum had significant (p <0.001) inhibitory effect on biofilm formation. objectives acinetobacter baumannii is an opportunistic pathogen that causes serious infections in humans by colonization of medical devices. the capacity of this pathogen to persist in hospital settings could be due to its ability to form biofilms. in the present study we evaluated the effect of antibodies against one of surface components of a. baumannii on in vitro biofilm formation. materials and methods the 1113 bp fragment of bap (biofilm associate protein)gene from a. baumannii genome was amplified and cloned. the recombinant protein was expressed and purified and used to raise antibodies in mice. antibody titer was evaluated by elisa. in vitro biofilm inhibition was evaluated using the mice sera.

Biofilm formation in Acinetobacter baumannii.

Acinetobacter baumannii has received much attention in recent years because of its increasing involvement in a number of severe infections and outbreaks occurring in clinical settings, and presumably related to its ability to survive and persist in hospital environments. The treatment of infections caused by A. baumannii nosocomial strains has become increasingly problematic, due to their intri...

Iron and Acinetobacter baumannii Biofilm Formation

Acinetobacter baumannii is an emerging nosocomial pathogen, responsible for infection outbreaks worldwide. The pathogenicity of this bacterium is mainly due to its multidrug-resistance and ability to form biofilm on abiotic surfaces, which facilitate long-term persistence in the hospital setting. Given the crucial role of iron in A. baumannii nutrition and pathogenicity, iron metabolism has bee...

Synthesis of silver nanoparticles and its synergistic effects in combination with imipenem and two biocides against biofilm producing Acinetobacter baumannii

Objectives:Biofilms are communities of bacteria attached to surfaces through an external polymeric substances matrix. In the meantime, Acinetobacterbaumannii is the predominant species related to nosocomial infections. In the present study, the effect of silver nanoparticles alone and in combination with biocides and imipenem against planktonic and biofilms of A. baumannii was assessed.  Materi...

Colistin-resistant Acinetobacter baumannii clinical strains deficient in biofilm

32 In two pairs of clinical colistin-susceptible/colistin-resistant (ColS/ColR) Acinetobacter 33 baumannii, ColR strains showed significantly decreased biofilm formation in static and dynamic 34 assays (P<0.001) and lower relative fitness (P<0.05) compared with ColS. Whole genome 35 sequencing comparison of strain pairs identified in one ColR strain a *241K change in LpsB 36 (involved in LPS sy...

Ventilator Associated Pneumonia by Acinetobacter baumannii And antimicrobial susceptibility pattern

Background: Ventilator Associated Pneumonia (VAP) is one of the serious complications of ventilator support occurring in ICUs. The aim of this study was to determine the susceptibility pattern of Acinetobacter baumannii (A. baumannii) isolated from patients with VAP by two methods: disk diffusion and E. test. Methods: This descriptive-cross sectional study was conducted in the four ICUs of Ras...

Acinetobacter baumannii

Acinetobacter baumannii is an opportunistic bacterial pathogen primarily associated with hospital-acquired infections. The recent increase in incidence, largely associated with infected combat troops returning from conflict zones, coupled with a dramatic increase in the incidence of multidrug-resistant (MDR) strains, has significantly raised the profile of this emerging opportunistic pathogen. ...
